Overview

Layout groups reduce repetitive edits and keep related overlays consistent. Use groups when multiple elements should move or animate together. [insert screenshot of multiple overlays selected as one layout group with spacing/alignment controls]

What layout groups are good for

  • Text + icon callout blocks.
  • Multi-element labels and captions.
  • Reusable scene patterns that need consistent spacing.
  • Coordinated animation of related overlays.

Before you start

  • Select elements that belong to one conceptual block.
  • Decide if the group should behave as free-positioned or stacked layout.
  • Confirm child element styling before grouping for faster reuse.

Steps

  1. Select related overlays and group them.
  2. Choose layout behavior (free, horizontal stack, vertical stack).
  3. Set spacing and alignment inside the group.
  4. Move/resize the group as one object.
  5. Apply group-level timing and animation.
  6. Enter child editing only when specific elements need overrides.

Check your result

  • Related elements stay aligned during edits.
  • Group timing remains consistent across scene changes.
  • You can reposition the block without breaking internal spacing.

Troubleshooting

Elements shift unexpectedly inside the group

Stack layout rules may be active. Check spacing and alignment settings for that group mode.

Cannot edit one child element

Enter group editing mode or temporarily ungroup, then regroup after changes.

Group animation conflicts with child timing

Decide whether motion should be controlled at group level or child level, not both.
