# Clips and scenes

> Trim, move, split and organize your video on the timeline.

The timeline is where your video takes shape.

**Ask the Agent:** "Trim the first two seconds off this clip." · "Move the title card to the start of scene 2." · "Merge the first two scenes."

### Tracks

From top to bottom: zooms, overlays, screen recordings and video clips, then narration (voiceover lines and camera clips). Click a voiceover line on the timeline to open it in the **Script** tab.

### Clips

| To | Do this |
| - | - |
| Trim | Drag either edge of the clip. |
| Move | Drag the clip. Dragging into a neighbor pushes it along. |
| Reorder | Hold ⌘ and drag the clip to a new spot on its track. |
| Split | Click a screen recording, video or camera clip where you want to split it, then press ⌘⇧S. Or right-click that spot and choose **Split clip**. To split a voiceover line, see [Edit with the Script](https://docs.yarn.so/script/editing.md). |
| Copy or cut | Select the clip and press ⌘C or ⌘X. ⌘V pastes it at the playhead. |
| Delete | Press Backspace, or right-click and choose **Delete**. |

### Scenes

| To | Do this |
| - | - |
| Add a scene | Click the + button (**Add scene**) in the gap between scenes, or right-click the empty timeline and choose **Add Scene** or **New Scene at Start**. |
| Split a scene | Press ⌘⇧C to split at the playhead, or right-click the empty timeline or a scene title and choose **Split Scene**. |
| Copy a scene | Right-click the empty timeline or the gap between scenes and choose **Copy Scene**. |
| Merge two scenes | Right-click the gap between them and choose **Merge Scenes**. |
| Delete an empty scene | Right-click its title and choose **Delete Scene**. |

### Jump to a time and zoom

Double-click the time under the canvas, type a new time and press Enter. It reads minutes:seconds:hundredths, so 1:30:00 is 1 minute 30 seconds.

To zoom the timeline, click **Timeline Zoom** and use the slider, or press F to fit the whole video.
