# Zooms

> Point viewers at the part of the screen that matters.

Zooms show viewers exactly where to look, like the button you're about to click.

> [!NOTE]
>
> The Agent can't add zooms yet, but you can add one in a couple of clicks.

## Add a zoom

1. On the timeline, click the screen recording where the zoom should start.
2. Click **Add Zoom** in the top bar, or press ⌘O.

Drag the zoom to move it, or drag its edges to make it longer or shorter. To remove it, select it and press Backspace.

## Fine-tune it

Click the zoom to see its controls.

| Control | What it does |
| - | - |
| **Zoom Type** → **Glide** | Follows your cursor around the screen. |
| **Zoom Type** → **Fixed** | Stays in one place. Drag on the canvas to frame it. |
| **Zoom** | Sets how close it gets. |
| **Instant Start** / **Instant End** | Snaps in or out instead of easing. |

## Set your defaults

If most of your zooms use the same settings, open the ⋯ menu next to the panel tabs and choose [**Screen Recording Settings...**](https://docs.yarn.so/screen/settings.md). Then set **Default Zoom Type** and **Default Zoom Level** once.

To add zooms to new screen recordings automatically, turn on **Auto-Add Screen Zooms** in [Settings](https://docs.yarn.so/workspace/settings.md).

> [!TIP]
>
> A zoom on each key moment is plenty. Too many can make the video feel busy.
